Billiard room sizes

One of the most common errors when designing a game room is not making it large enough for the billiard table. You need room for the table and cue sticks while playing. The most popular table size is 4'x8', and the standard cue length is 57".

The Calculation

The calculation is pretty simple. Add up the following:

Playing area
+ 2 x (the cue length plus 1 inch)
+ 2 x 6 inches for back swing

Example:

44x88 table with 57" cues
88"
+ 2 x (57+1)
+ 2 x 6
= 216" or 18'

Nag, nag, nag

By the way, according to the dictionary, you play the game of billiards on a billiard table in a billiard room. "Billiards" is a noun, and "billiard" is an adjective.
